I posted this photo to prove a point. All the money in the world can’t add up to a great image. My point is, you can keep spending money on the latest and greatest cameras, but that doesn’t mean it will spit out gallery ready prints. The camera is just a tool that needs a user who doesn’t necessarliy have to know all the tricks, but does have the passion to make the most with what they have. This photo was taken with a pre-paid LG cell phone, 2 mp camera with only an exposure adjustment and no apps. Not ever using this phone before, the owner (pictured) had to show me where the settings were. I bumped down the exposure about minus 1 stop or halfway down the bar and had him stand in the window for light. We took this image on the first try. Of course there’s some luck involved, but that’s the norm with photography. It comes down to the fact that we tried and didn’t worry about the inequality of the camera compared to others. Early photographers only had a wooden box with a small hole and documented some of the most beautiful photogaphic artwork in history. I’m writing this to hopefuly encourage you to use that cell phone camera, shoot often and shoot a lot. It will make you notice things that you normally pay no attention to. And always remember this, ” Creative photography isn’t about the caliber of pixels you put forth…it’s the quality of content that’s important. “
